...The Simpson House is a three-story mansion rich with decorative detail including original crystal chandeliers, Tiffany- stained glass, ornate hand-carved woodwork, two fireplaces of italian marble and granite, and gorgeous hardwood floors throughout the house.
...Comprised of more than 2700 square feet, the main floor consists of a circular Solarium, large modern kitchen, Dining Room, and Great Room complete with a grand piano. Two sets of French doors lead guests from the main reception room to the outside covered porch and garden area. The house can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests; it is handicapped accessible and also centrally air conditioned.
...Entering the spacious foyer, with its hand carved walnut balusters and wood trim, arched doorways, and original crystal chandelier, guests have access to all four rooms on the main floor.
...The Great Room seats about 36 classroom style, 70 dining, and up to 105 theater style. The Italian marble fireplace, crystal chandelier, and piano all add a grand touch to any meeting, reception, or dinner party. The decorative ceiling trim make this elegant room the site of numerous wedding ceremonies.
...The Dining Room seats up to 42, but with its direct access to the kitchen pantry it is the frequent site for hors d'oeuvres and buffets. The Dining Room has walnut trim throughout , as well as a carved walnut ceiling; the hand-carved built-in walnut buffet, original crystal chandelier, and Tiffany stained glass make this room the perfect place for caterers to show off their cuisine.
...The Solarium provides a wonderful setting for bar set-ups, as well as buffet service. The massive granite fireplace is surrounded by a wall of five foot windows and a beautiful mosaic tile floor. The domed plaster ceiling adds to the grandeur of this room. There is handicapped access, as well as a handicapped accessible restroom through the Solarium. Through this room entry to four basement restrooms and coat racks is also provided.
...The recently remodeled kitchen has ample counter space, three ovens, stove top, refrigerator, double sink, and large open shelving. Also, direct access to the kitchen from the back of the house affords caterers an easy load-in.
...A second floor room is also available to renters and can serve as a dressing room or as a break-out room for business meetings and retreats. The Queen-Ann styled furnishings, lace curtains, and private antique restroom make this a distinctive place for bridal parties or a relaxed meeting room.
...The covered porch over looks the spacious south lawn area which is beautifully landscaped and is frequently the site of garden weddings and other outdoor gatherings. The porch can seat in the mid thirties and the south lawn can comfortably accommodate 150 people; massive oak and dog wood trees add to the idyllic setting of the Simpson House grounds.
...The Kansas City Simpson House is located in Midtown, less that a five minute stroll from the Country Club Plaza, the city's premier shopping district, and the world renowned Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery. There are three hotels directly across the street from the House, the Holiday Inn, the Marriot, and the Homestead Inn extended stay hotel.Parking for 62 is adjacent to the north side of the house in addition to ample street parking. Included with the rental fee are 80 chairs and 12 tables. The Simpson House has an additional 150 chairs and 40 tables available to rent. Caterer of the renter's choice may be contracted and alcohol is permissible at the house. Rental fees vary depending on the time and date of the function.
